What do nursing mothers wear?

Your closet should have.

● Breastfeeding bras (at least 3 pieces)

● Anti-spill breast pads

● clothes to wear while breastfeeding

● Baby carriers

1. Choose the right bra

The lactation bra is specially designed to feed milk, and the cup can be opened separately. How to choose and use it?

 ● Before the baby is born, buy a bra or two with a cup size larger than the one you had when you were pregnant, as breasts will grow after normal milk production begins.

 ● After normal milk production and breast enlargement has stopped (usually in the second week), buy 3 bras (one to wear, one to change, and one to spare).

 ● The bra should be able to adapt to the changes in breast size before and after feeding; Bras that are too tight can lead to breast infections.

● Choose a bra with a cup that opens and covers with one hand so you don't have to put your baby down while feeding. Look for a bra with a zipper on the cup, or one with a strap and the cup opens down. Don't buy a bra with a row of hooks on the front. They're a lot of work and don't support your breasts once the cups are open. The first two have better cup support, are easier to undo, and allow you to open only one cup at a time.

 ● When the opening is open, the remaining cup should support the entire lower half of the breast in its natural position.

 ● Choose a 100 percent cotton bra. Avoid chemical fiber components and plastic lining, not easy to absorb water, and not breathable.

 ● Don't wear bras with underwire on the bottom edge, as underwire can compress the breast and easily lead to poor milk.

2. Anti-galactorrhea pad

Anti-galactorrhea pads can be placed on the inside of the bra to absorb spilled milk. Notes are as follows:

● Do not use chemical fiber components and plastic lined milk pad, air tight, easy to breed bacteria.

● Anti-galactorrhea pads can also be homemade. You can fold a cotton handkerchief and put it in a bra, or cut a cotton diaper into a circle about 12 centimeters in diameter to use as a milk pad.

● Replace the milk pad in time after the overflow. If the pad sticks to the nipple, moisten it with warm water before removing it. The spill usually only appears in the first few weeks.

3. Clothes to wear while nursing

After our first child was born, I accompanied Martha to clothes shopping. When I complained that she was taking too long to choose, Martha explained, "For the first time in my life, I have to consider the needs of another person when I buy clothes." Later, I met a new mother in my clinic who was scrambling to get a dress off to calm her crying baby. We all laughed as the baby nursed next to a pile of clothes and half-naked mother, who also said: "Next time I'll dress for the occasion."

Refer to the following tips when choosing clothing for nursing:

 ● Clothes with complicated patterns will not be able to tell if they spill milk. Avoid monochrome clothes and tight fabrics.

 ● Patterned, sweatshirt-style baggy tops are better and can be pulled up from the waist to the chest. Your baby will cover your bare belly when you feed.

 ● A loose top designed especially for nursing mothers, with an inconspicuous opening made into a pleated chest.

 ● Opt for baggy tops that button up the front; Unbutton from bottom to top, and cover the baby with an unbuttoned blouse when feeding.

● You can wear a shawl or scarf over your shoulders, not only beautiful, but also can cover the baby at the breast.

 ● In cold weather, even if the waist is only a little exposed feel unbearable. A reader's letter in the journal La Leche League International suggested a solution: cut off the top of an old T-shirt, wrap it around your waist and put on a loose coat. The T-shirt protects the mother from the cold, and the baby can touch the mother's warm chest.

 ● One-piece clothing is very inconvenient. Go to maternity and baby stores for clothing specifically designed for nursing mothers, or search online for "nursing clothing."

 ● Separate suits and loose sweatshirts are practical. The top should be loose and easily pulled up from the waist to the chest.

 ● Don't think about stuffing yourself into the clothes you wore before you got pregnant any time soon. Tight tops rub against your nipples, which is uncomfortable and can trigger an inappropriate lactation reflex.

Next, a word of advice for mothers who are too shy to breastfeed in public: pick out your outfit carefully and try it out in front of a mirror.

4. Use a baby sling

For centuries, breast-feeding mothers used a towelette, an extension of the garment in which they held their baby close to the mother's breast.

The topline is the tool you can't live without to make your life easier and the nursing more comfortable for both mother and child. The topline type carrying tool is more practical than any front - or rear-mounted carrying tool or backpack. It allows babies to breastfeed in public and can be used in a variety of positions. Always take it with you when you go out.
